Jack Latham is a full time resident of Whitewood Sands and has lived there for 16 years, but has been involved with the property since the 1960s. He has a degree in Agriculture from the University of Alberta and helped TransAlta Utilities develop some of the protocols for reclamation of the Whitewood and Highvale mines in the 1970s and ‘80s. He also sat on task forces to study the Wabamun lake water level as well as the public advisory group to study the Wabamun power plant's cooling water effect on the lake, plus other related issues.
