Alberta Environment (AENV) has maintained a water quality monitoring program on Wabamun Lake for over 20 years (Casey 2003). It is designed to evaluate overall water quality of the lake, including temporal trends in trophic status indicators and major ion chemistry. The sampling program integrates water quality of the lake’s open water. However, it does not depict possible differences in east and west basin water quality or provide information on water quality in various bays and along the littoral zone.
